Kate Heneghan, the 2023 Mayo Rose of Tralee, is set to enchant her hometown with her first-ever concert in Mayo. Hailing from Castlebar, Co. Mayo, Kate is a versatile musician, proficient in the harp, violin, and piano. She holds a Master’s in Music Composition & Performance with distinction from Ulster University and a first-class honors BA Performing Arts (Irish Music) degree from the University of Limerick.
Kate’s musical journey has taken her across the globe, performing in prestigious venues, from Beijing’s National Centre for Performing Arts to Sydney Opera House. Her captivating performances have earned her a reputation for authenticity and energy, drawing audiences into the magic of her music.
Beyond performing, Kate is a passionate music teacher and has co-founded Westport Scoil Cheoil, recognized as one of Ireland’s premier music summer schools. Her dedication to music education extends to academic contributions and radio hosting. Kate is also a sought-after corporate and wedding musician, having played for distinguished guests, including President Michael D. Higgins.
With a list of accolades, including the Music Generation/U2 bursary ‘Exceptional Musician Award,’ Kate’s concert in Ballintubber Abbey on December 21st is an opportunity to witness her extraordinary talent and deep connections to County Mayo in her first-ever concert in the region. This concert promises to be a memorable night in celebration of a local musical luminary.
