Located just one mile off the main Castlebar-Galway road (N84), Ballintubber Abbey is easily accessible and serves as a perfect starting point to explore the treasures of County Mayo. Situated 11 km (7 miles) from Castlebar, 12 km (9 miles) from Ballinrobe, and 64 km (40 miles) from the vibrant city of Galway, our abbey offers you the opportunity to dive into the heart of this captivating region.
How to Find Us:
From Dublin: Begin your journey at Junction 1 on the M50, following the signs to N4, which is signposted for Sligo. At Junction 11, continue forward on N4 toward Sligo. In Longford, follow the signs for Westport (N5). As you arrive in Castlebar, take the N84 towards Cong/Galway. Ballintubber Abbey awaits you approximately 12 km from Castlebar.
From Galway: Embark on a picturesque drive as you follow the signs for Castlebar (N84). Travel through the charming towns of Shrule, Kilmaine, and Ballinrobe. After approximately 5 km (3 miles) past the village of Partry, watch for the signs pointing you towards Ballintubber Abbey on the right.
